The Captain's Birthday Week - Update 1 of 4

We are starting our long overdue series of blog updates with the Captain's 50th birthday week at Tybee Island and in Savannah. Since there are so many pictures, our next few updates are going to be pictorial with captions serving as the only narrative, which we hope you will enjoy!

"The Porch," where we spent most of our time while in our beautiful rental cottage. Nila, on the left, and Shelly, on the right, spend time with the Admiral plotting the upcoming events.

Nila & Everett spend time with Shelly on the beach, all three are great friends from Springfield.

A view of the beach at Hilton Head, SC. This beach was much busier than our quiet beach on Tybee Island.

It was a group effort getting dinner and drinks together!

Everett spends a quiet afternoon in the cottage reading... soon to be napping!

Part of our group getting ready to take a trolley tour of downtown Savannah. Nice biceps, Everett!

The Captain and his mom enjoying their day in Savannah.

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church: majestic outside and ornate inside.

Outdoor art on the Riverwalk in downtown Savannah.

Photos of beautiful downtown Savannah. A must-stop if you get to the Georgia coast.

Our birthday dinner guests and Savannah hosts Howard & Sue Berriman getting ready for the party.

Everyone was issued a custom birthday shirt for the event. A special thanks to Shelly for putting this all together!

Getting ready for the group photo.

The 50-year-old Captain surrounded by his family and friends. Thanks to all of you for the wonderful memories!

Arne Elisha toasts the Captain while the Captain's parents dig in to some cake.

The Berriman's with their daughter-in-law Heidi.

Everett shows off his red long johns which were "admired" by all. Everett gave these long johns to our good friend Duane on his 50th birthday. As many of you know, Duane's untimely death at the age of 57 prompted us to purchase "Life's2Short" and begin our live-aboard adventure.

The Captain and his dad, along with Arne, spend an afternoon touring Fort Pulaski. This historic fort is located between Tybee Island and Savannah.
